Formula for a muscle cake

One of the muscliest cakes I've done, this Formula One racing car belonging to Mark Weber (yes that is his head in that lil white helmet there) was for an F1 fanatic.
Vroom vroom!

  1. Hi, I love the job you have done! Really amazing. Go team RedBull!
Is it possible for you to post the instructions on how you made this cake?

  2. Hi reyhan,

Thank you for your comment! I can definitely post any instructions you'd like, however I don't know if I have the most efficient method for cakeing this muscle car! It was my first time doing this.

Briefly, I can say that the most important thing is to get the carving right. I don't use moulds, so carving is a main component for me for such cakes and also the most satisfying because if the shape is right, when the fondant goes on it starts to look like a car straightaway! Be sure to cut out the four parts where the wheels go.

After carving, cover the whole cake in white fondant, and add the additional parts on such as the rear spoiler.

Then use edible markers to draw the logos on, and use Wilton food colouring mixed with rose syrup or vodka or white wine to paint the dark blue on (I can't get fondant to achieve that dark blue hence I painted it on instead). You might need to do a few layers of this to overcome any streakiness.

Then all you have left to do is the helmet and the 4 wheels.

Good luck! Any issues pls drop me an email. I would also love to see your finished product if you can spare a pic :)

    Cheers
