Cake sweet cake

I absolutely love this design I was asked to do for a 16th birthday party, just so bright, fun and cheery! One good exception to my 'no more than 3 colours on a cake' unspoken rule (unless it's a real-life replica I'm doing). However, it's also non-geometric. Haha, even as I write that, I know I have to explain myself. I just mean there's no pattern to how the flowers, hearts and circles go on, as long as they look good next to each other, which takes a bit of planning ahead. Anyway, it was pure fun and I've used this theme since on cupcakes, which worked really well!

Mini gift bags

Miniature is always cute! These hardly took any time to do... or maybe I was just having too much fun. They'd probably only feed about 4-6 depending on whether you eat like a bird or you eat like... me. However, a cute alternative to a birthday gift, especially if you have long-time friends you've been giving gifts to for years and might be running out of ideas.

I heart cute mixing bowls

Since Love And Cake is about 6 months old now, I thought we (my cakes and me) could do with a little treat. Introducing my shiny new very pink very hearty mixing bowl! Complete with matching white heart measuring cups. Life doesn’t get much heartier than this. Wonder if the weird shape will add to the mixing time. Small sacrifice :0)

RSPCA Cupcake Day

I'm excited to announce that Love and Cake will be participating in the RSPCA Cupcake Day this year on 17th August 2009. I just received my pack in the mail - looks like I'll be a walking cupcake stand that day, with balloons and stickers attached to me, if the RSPCA has anything to say about it. Lol.

Anyway I'm excited because I get to do something I love knowing that it all goes towards helping lots of poor needy animals - all of them who just need a little love will get LOTS of love after this day! And it's also in honour of my beloved doggie who passed away a couple of years ago.

Here are the details:
Box of 5 mini cupcakes $10
Box of 12 mini cupcakes $20
Box of 5 regular cupcakes $15
Box of 12 regular cupcakes $30

Each box will contain 5 different flavours - vanilla, white chocolate, choc chip, white chocolate strawberry and chocolate mint.

EVERY DOLLAR YOU SPEND GOES DIRECTLY TO THE RSPCA, all costs are covered by me.

Please email me your order by Friday 7th August so I have time to bake and decorate. Location for pick-up will be advised later.

Your generosity towards the RSPCA on this day would be greatly valued as they do some really awesome work. Lil puppies and kittens everywhere will be so grateful. AND you get to munch on delicious cupcakes in return.

Spongebob Squarecake

While decorating this lil guy, I had lots of time to ponder how a yellow sponge, clothed in a rather formal-looking outfit, with gangly limbs and buck teeth, could have such a dynamic personality that has made him so popular. I hear he is a big hit and I even have another Spongebob order coming up again soon! Rationalising aside, I guess he is rather cute… in a non-threatening dopey best friend kind of way.
When creating his face, I knew I had to get every feature in correct proportion or he wouldn’t look like the real Spongebob. I knew I’d ‘made it’ when I took a photo of this cake, and my camera actually found his face in the frame!! LOL!!
On the technical side, I was slightly worried about Spongebob being able to stay upright, especially in transit. I’m very proud of him though, he made it through a very bumpy bus ride to the city and did not budge an inch the whole time. He even sat in his own seat. Seems like a very reliable best friend!

Cupcakes full of thanks

This order was personally rewarding as I was helping the orderer say a heartfelt thank you to some of her friends. I’m glad that I'm in a business that allows me to do such things!
